New transport fares out - Jul 5, 2008


The Liberian Government has released a new transport fare for Monrovia and its environs.

Speaking at a joint pres conference in Monrovia Thursday, Commence Minister, Frances Johnson Morris and Transport Minister, Jackson Doe said the latest transport fare to bring to an end the illegal increase in fares by drivers in the city and its immediate surroundings.

Government says from Central Monrovia to Paynesville Red Light, taxi fare is LD45.00 and bus fare is LD30.00, from Central Monrovia to Douala, taxi fare is LD30.00 and bus fare is LD15.00, from Central Monrovia to Freeport of Monrovia, tax fare is LD10.00 and Bus fare is LD5.00 and around town taxi remains LD5.00, among others.

Meanwhile, the government has warned that any driver caught charging passengers outside the approved price will be severely dealt with.
