EPA launches awareness campaign - Jul 5, 2008
The Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ben Donnie says, the agency will continue to work with stakeholders and other relevant government agencies in protecting the environment.
Mr. Donnie said it is important that every Liberian support the promotion of a healthy society by protecting the environment.
Speaking Friday at the launch of an awareness campaign on the use of ozone depleting substances, Mr. Donnie said there are laws that regulate substances imported into the country.
He disclosed that the Liberian Government through the Justice Ministry will do all it can to enforce laws that protect the environment.
Earlier, at the Press Conference, EPA National Ozone Officer, Earl Neblett disclosed that there are international laws that forbid the use and importation of certain substances including chloroform, carbon among others.
Mr. Neblett recounted skin cancer, eye cataract and immune-depression as sickness that come about as a result of the use of harmful substances.
