Liberian Leader calls for women empowerment
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has delivered a keynote address at the close of a five-day women’s conference, with renewed calls for women empowerment in all sectors of the country.

The Liberian Chief Executive said women empowerment in every part of the country is fundamental in the poverty reduction and the country’s renewal agenda.

Speaking Friday at the close of the five day women’s conference at the Monrovia City Hall in Sinkor, President Johnson Sirleaf described women as critical components which continue to serve as driving forces in this contemporary and challenging history of the world.

Meanwhile the women, among other things presented a nine-count resolution to President Johnson-Sirleaf. The recommendation includes women empowerment, health care, education, protection and security; and conflict resolution and peace building, among others.
